2011

Yet another fun filled and exciting year for the Malmesbury Singers with the Verdi Requiem proving to be another exciting concert peformed to a full Abbey.

The summer term saw the Singers performing a relaxed and informal singing evening for friends and family, accompanied by an evening drink afterwards. Favourites such as "The Rhythm of Life" were dusted down for a happy singalong.

During September - December 2010 the singers rehearsed for a concert entitled "O Wonderful Mystery" As a celebration of our 50th Anniversary it was a typically lively, musical and engaging concert. There were many highlights, the Lauridsen was captivating, the Shepherds' Farewell was gorgeous, John's Carol was sung with all the enthusiasm that it required. Finally the 3 minute Messiah was a great success, and in the end everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

After our Christmas break, we look forward to resuming rehearsals on Monday 9th January 2012 in preparation for our Easter concert, when we will sing Howard Goodall's "Eternal Light" and Vaughan Williams' "Five Mystical Songs" interspersed with poetry readings.

New singers in all parts are always welcome – please use the “contact us” page if you are interested in joining the choir; however as ever the best thing is to turn up on the evening of our first rehearsal of the term and join in!
