The address for the church is St Mary’s Street, Malmesbury, SN16 0BJ. There is no parking at the church, but the town’s long stay car park is only 5 mins walk and the 1st two hours are free. To reach the car park follow signs for Long Stay from the approaches to Malmesbury. Leave the car park heading towards the fire station, and walk up Gloucester Road towards the town centre. St.Mary’s street is on the right before the triangle and war memorial.
Nigel Perrin is one of the UK’s best known and foremost choral directors. He is the musical director of Bath Bach Choir and Exeter Festival Chorus, was the founding director of award winning Bath Camerata chamber choir and was known to millions as one of the very earliest members of the Kings Singers. His approach to workshops and singing days is lively, entertaining and instructive in equal measure and I’m sure we’ll all have a great time.
We start at 9.30 and expect to end between 2.30 and 2.45. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival and later in the day. After a light lunch, provided for a modest £5/head in aid of church funds, we will have a recap and sing through of the pieces we’ve studied in the morning.
The repertoire will include Handel’s Coronation Anthems (Zadok, My Heart is Inditing and The King Shall Rejoice) plus some choruses from Messiah. In addition Nigel will bring his usual eclectic selection of warm ups and rounds to get us going.
We are able to provide scores of the Coronation Anthems and Messiah, but if you have your own copy it would help us if you could bring it along.
On the form below please indicate if you would like lunch and if you can pay by BACS the details are on the form or downloadable sheet. If you wish to pay by cheque, please make the cheque out to the Malmesbury Singers and email us for the address to post to or bring on the day.
After the day, we would love any feedback – please share below!
